Hafodyrynys welcomed local rivals Brynithel  to The Welfare Ground in what turned out to be a hard fought local derby and it was Brynithel who drew first blood with an early penalty
The Hafod were soon on the scoreboard with a close range try  from No8 Kyle Griffiths and were starting to impose themselves on the game but were rocked when as the ball was spread wide a pass was intercepted and the Brynithel player touched down under the posts and with the conversion meant Brynithel led 10-5
The Rams replied in some style with a beautifully worked try, centre Craig Foxwell broke the line and put full back Emyr Ackerman into space,he then fed wing Ashley Parfitt who showed good pace to touchdown in the corner.
Brynithel struck back quickly with a penalty to lead 13-10.
The Rams regained the lead with a Craig Foxwell try after a well worked move ended with the centre touching down under the posts, scrum half Josh Morgan added the conversion to leave the half time score 17-13
The Hafod started the 2nd half strongly with 2nd row Jordan Davies on his 21st birthday securing good lineout ball and the wing forwards Brian Barton and Greg Simmonds to the fore and were rewarded when Craig Foxwell touched down for his 2nd try wide out following a good handling from The Ram's backs, a superb touchline conversion from Josh Morgan gave The Hafod a 24-13 lead and the bonus point for scoring 4 tries
Any thoughts The Rams had of running away with game were dashed as Brynithel dug in and although The Hafod continued to attack and had further scoring opportunities but were unable to convert the chances.
Brynithel scored with the last play of the game deep into injury time and with the conversion
the game finished 24-20
