St Julians HSOB RFC v Hafodyrynys RFC

Hafodyrynys travelled down the valley for their fixture with St Julians and came away with a hard fought draw against a committed home side
The Hafod started the game strongly with centre Curtis Harris making early inroads into the St Julians defence with fellow centre Wayne Saunders giving strong support and both wings Steve Davies and Erwin Tejam getting early touches of the ball.
The Rams were rocked by the early exit of influential 2nd row Daniel Crandon and were now coming under pressure from a strong St Julians side
Interestingly it was the 20th min before the first penalty was awarded which was a testimony to both sides desire to play rugby.
Erwin Tejam then put in a great run out of defence only for the scoring pass to be intercepted by the covering St Julians defender and soon after St Julians opened the scoring with a penalty.
The Hafod's outside half Rob Smith then made a clean break only to run out of support as the covering St Julians defence closed in,The Rams were soon made to pay for the missed chances when a kick ahead was fielded by the impressive St Julians scrum half who ran the ball back and manged to evade The Hafod's defence to score under the posts which with the conversion made the half time score 10-0
The Rams started the 2nd strongly with history repeating itself when a scoring pass was intercepted again but The Hafod were not to be denied and replacement scrum half Mark Perrett crashed over for the try following good work by The Hafod's forwards.
With The Ram's forwards starting to get on top with Daffydd Jones securing good lineout ball and wing forwards Matt Rogers and Greg Simmonds on his return from injury working hard
The Hafod were soon on equal terms when after another superb forward drive prop Scott Gameson who had replaced the hard working Richard Martin powered over for the try
Unfortunatly the conversion drifted wide and although both sides tried hard for the winning score, the score remained 10-10
